Climate & health
Mahalo for putting people first in climate policy! Youth leaders connected health, equity, and climate impacts — from heat safety in schools to statewide public health planning. As we gear up for session, we’re working to turn those priorities into lasting protections for Hawaiʻi’s communities.
2026 Key Policy Priorities:
-
Increase cross-sector training in healthcare, agriculture, and urban planning to address heat, air-quality, and disease risks.
-
Prioritize aid and adaptation support for vulnerable populations facing the greatest climate health threats.
-
Strengthen healthcare infrastructure to prepare for heat stress, vector-borne illnesses, and respiratory diseases.
-
Support a 2026 heat protection policy requiring schools to monitor the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) and adopt heat-safety guidelines.
