transportation

Building a cleaner, safer way to get around. This priority supports Hawaiʻi’s Multimodal Network connecting buses, bikes, and trails; the Keiki Ride Free program; Feebate incentives for clean vehicles; and a Sustainable Aviation Fuel Tax Credit to cut emissions from flights.

2025 Key Policy Priorities:

  • Sustainable mobility is key to climate resilience and equity.

  • This working group supported Hawaiʻi’s Multimodal Network, a statewide plan connecting buses, bikes, sidewalks, and trails to make travel safer, cleaner, and more accessible.

  • Policy ideas included Keiki Ride Free to make public transit free for youth, a Feebate Program rewarding low-emission vehicle choices, and a Sustainable Aviation Fuel Tax Credit to reduce emissions from air travel.

  • Together, these initiatives aim to reimagine transportation as a system that supports both people and the planet — promoting access, affordability, and climate responsibility.

2026 Policy priorities will be updated soon.  Once updated, track youth-supported climate bills in Hawaiʻi.
