Renewable Energy
Mahalo for charging up Hawaiʻi’s clean energy future! Youth voices helped identify key goals around wildfire safety, grid modernization, and renewable access. As session approaches, we’re turning these ideas into real policy pathways for a safer, more sustainable energy system.
2026 Key Policy Priorities:
-
Strengthen grid safety and wildfire resilience, learning from the impacts of the Maui fires.
-
Modernize Hawaiʻi’s grid through the Integrated Grid Planning (IGP) pillars — distributed energy resources, utility-scale renewables, grid upgrades, and community engagement.
-
Manage rising insurance costs linked to climate-related disasters and energy infrastructure risks.
-
Expand renewable energy development with a focus on feasibility, fairness, and community benefit.
-
Build public trust and transparency in the energy transition process through communication and collaboration.
These priorities move Hawai‘i closer to 100% clean energy and a sustainable future. Want to help? Support policies that power a greener tomorrow!
