Sustainable Infrastructure
Mahalo for helping us build a stronger foundation for Hawaiʻi’s future! Youth priorities last year focused on green design, clean water, and education about sustainable infrastructure. Heading into session, we’re focused on funding, innovation, and collaboration to make those ideas real.
2025 Key Policy Priorities:
-
Support the Green Transportation & Infrastructure initiative to integrate sustainable design into urban development.
-
Expand cesspool conversion funding through grants and tax incentives to make upgrades affordable for homeowners.
-
Create a dedicated Cesspool Conversion Section within the Department of Health to coordinate and track progress.
-
Improve funding allocation systems so resources reach communities most in need.
-
Launch public education campaigns — PSAs, workshops, and community outreach — to inform residents about wastewater risks and solutions.
-
Advocate for long-term infrastructure planning that aligns with Hawaiʻi’s climate goals and community priorities.
These policies help create a Hawai‘i where people can afford to live, move around safely, and embrace sustainable energy. Want to support these efforts? Get involved and speak up!
